Can someone please shoot Blockbuster in the head?

Every once in a while it becomes necessary to trudge over to Blockbuster Video, usually for something not on our Netflix queue that we want to watch that night or the like.



Before this insufferable, miserable franchise ends and is out of business, our Top Three Blockbuster Memories.

3. When asked if the store carried a copy of "The Straight Story" (2000), a David Lynch film that produced an Academy Award nomination for Richard Farnsworth, the clerk tartly replied "I've never even heard of that film."

2. On two different occasions, months apart and involving separate films, the young manager of the store commented that Judd Apatow "is the John Hughes of our generation".

1. An attempt to rent "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil" (1997) was thwarted when the disc could not be found and the woman behind the counter referred us to the library, adding "I've been doing that a lot lately".
